The Attachment Wound Treatment Curriculum: 10-Session Attachment Protocol

Your clients know their relationships keep hurting. This curriculum helps them understand why, and gives you the road map to guide them through it and know exactly how to structure each session.

Clients often arrive saying “I always end up in the same relationship,” “I push people away,” or “I need constant reassurance.” Most have never heard of attachment theory. The Attachment Wound Treatment Curriculum takes them, one session at a time, from recognizing their pattern, to tracing it back to childhood, to building earned security.

You bring the relationship and the clinical skill. The curriculum gives you the structure.

The Client Workbook (49 pages)

Every session follows the same four-page structure:

  • Understanding: a short teaching in plain, warm language

  • Does This Sound Like You? Everyday patterns the client will recognize

  • Making the Connection: exercises that link present-day pain to its childhood roots

  • Healing Exercise: a letter, visualization, cycle map, belief reframe or practice script

  • Carry This With You: affirmations, a 7-day practice tracker and notes for the next session

It also includes:

  • A welcome letter

  • A 20-question Attachment Style Self-Assessment with scoring

  • A baseline check-in

  • A session-by-session progress tracker

  • A Before & After comparison

  • A personal security plan

  • A closing letter

The Practitioner Guide (10 pages)

  • How to use the curriculum, with a suggested 50–60 minute session structure

  • Clinician and Coach Edition notes, including clear guidance on when coaches should refer

  • Working with activation: signs of hyper- and hypoarousal and what helps

  • A facilitation guide for every session, covering focus, opening and deepening questions, and what to watch for

  • Optional clinical goals for each session, written for treatment planning and documentation

Three files in one download

  • Practitioner Guide: for you

  • Client Workbook, Print PDF: for paper, in session or as homework

  • Client Workbook, Fillable PDF: clients can type, check boxes and save on a computer or tablet

The guide and workbook are separate files, so you can give clients their workbook without any practitioner notes in it.

Who it’s for: licensed therapists, counselors, social workers and coaches working with clients who struggle with anxious, avoidant or disorganized attachment patterns, repeating relationship cycles, fear of abandonment, or discomfort with closeness.

Gender-neutral throughout, for clients of every background.

Do my clients need to know about attachment theory first? No. The workbook assumes clients have never heard of it. Sessions 1 and 2 explain attachment in plain, warm language before any deeper work begins.

Can coaches use this curriculum? Yes. The Coach Edition notes frame the work as a healing journey rather than treatment, show which sections to keep reflective, and explain when to refer clients to a licensed professional.

Can I use it for treatment planning? Yes. The Practitioner Guide includes an optional clinical goal for every session, written for documentation.

Can my clients fill in the workbook digitally? Yes. The download includes a fillable Client Workbook that clients can type into and save on a computer or tablet, plus a print version.

Do I have to follow all 10 sessions in order? The sessions build on each other and work best in order. The guide also explains when to slow down, split a session across two meetings, or move the body-based session earlier for clients with trauma histories.

Can I give the workbook to more than one client? Yes. Your license covers sharing the Client Workbook with your own clients. It doesn’t cover sharing with other practitioners or reselling.
